The project reclaims the interstitial spaces created by overlapping systems of urban mobility—highways, streets, bridges, and railroads—and transforms them into an active public landscape. Rather than treating these infrastructural conditions as barriers, the design uses them as the framework for a new kind of urban park. Paths, lawns, plazas, planted areas, and gathering spaces weave between and beneath the surrounding infrastructure, creating connections through a fragmented part of the city while giving previously residual land a clear civic purpose. The architecture and landscape embrace the scale, materiality, and energy of the surrounding transportation network, allowing the park to feel distinctly rooted in its urban setting.
At the center of the project is an urban skate park conceived as both a recreational space and a platform for street culture. Murals, graffiti, and large-scale public artworks transform bridge supports, retaining walls, and other infrastructural surfaces into an evolving outdoor gallery. Flexible lawns, terraces, plazas, and performance areas expand the park's role beyond skating, allowing it to accommodate concerts, festivals, markets, performances, and informal community gatherings. Together, these elements create a dynamic cultural landscape where movement, art, recreation, and infrastructure converge—turning leftover urban space into a highly visible and inclusive place for public life.
